Assessio Practice Test / Assessio Test Format: MAP and Matrigma

Assessio test format: direct answer

The Assessio test format depends on the selected module. MAP 3 is a 200-item work-contextualised Big Five personality assessment described as taking about 20-40 minutes. MAP Essence is a shorter 75-item option at about 15 minutes. Adaptive Matrigma is a non-verbal matrix test lasting up to 12 minutes, with per-item time limits and adaptive difficulty.

Classic Matrigma is a longer non-adaptive version that public Assessio material describes at roughly 40 minutes. Confirm the exact version before preparing, then use the Assessio practice test overview to move into the correct module.

Why MAP and Matrigma require different strategies

MAP is self-report personality content. Candidates need to read work-context statements carefully and use typical behaviour as a stable reference point. Matrigma is ability content. Candidates must inspect a matrix, infer changing rules and select the option that completes the pattern.

The distinction affects timing, review and feedback. Personality content should not be marked as objectively correct. Cognitive items have a logically supported answer and place greater emphasis on accuracy under time pressure.

These figures are provider descriptions, not a substitute for the live invitation.

AreaWhat it meansCandidate action
MAP 3200 items; approximately 20-40 minutes.Five traits and 25 facets; authentic self-report.
MAP Essence75 items; approximately 15 minutes.Shorter personality measure; confirm invitation.
Adaptive MatrigmaUp to 12 minutes; one-minute item limits.Adaptive non-verbal matrices and C-score output.
Classic MatrigmaApproximately 40 minutes in current public documentation.Longer fixed matrix format; version must be confirmed.

How the Adaptive Matrigma format changes difficulty

Adaptive Matrigma selects item difficulty based on performance. Candidates should not expect an identical sequence or assume that a difficult item means they are failing. Difficulty changes are part of the measurement process. Continue applying the same rule-detection method.

Each item has a time limit, so prolonged fixation is expensive. Scan rows and columns, identify likely transformations, test the simplest rule and choose before the item expires. Familiarity helps you use the minute effectively without publishing or memorising questions.

How the MAP format uses traits and facets

MAP reports five broad traits: Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability and Openness. Each has five facets, which allows a broad trait to be interpreted through a more detailed pattern. Two people with similar trait positions may show different facet combinations.

Candidates should answer from normal work behaviour over time. Do not alternate between an ideal employee, a private social self and one exceptional project. A consistent context makes the self-report clearer without requiring you to remember earlier responses.

Navigation, device and test conditions

Assessio recommends a quiet setting, stable internet and a full-size computer for Matrigma. Follow the current invitation for supervision, verification or retest conditions. Do not assume a phone will offer the same candidate experience as a larger screen.

For MAP, protect enough time for the full version named. For Matrigma, begin only when you can sustain uninterrupted concentration through the timed period. Technical readiness is part of fair preparation.

Use a format-specific rehearsal

For MAP, rehearse the decision context rather than exact statements. Think about ordinary workplace behaviour and learn to distinguish a trait description from a value or ability claim. The useful outcome is confidence in self-reporting, not a high personality score.

For Matrigma, rehearse visual scanning. Check count, position, rotation, shading, combination and subtraction patterns in a consistent order. You are training a method that transfers across new matrices without reproducing official content.

Track timing separately from accuracy. If you are accurate but slow, practise earlier rule selection. If you are fast but inaccurate, require yourself to verify the rule across more than one row or column. A single combined score can hide which problem needs repair.

Read interface instructions when the live assessment opens. An adaptive item, a fixed classic item and a personality statement can use different controls and navigation. Do not click based on habit before you understand the current screen.

Finish preparation with one module-matched session. A mixed generic assessment can be useful initially, but your final rehearsal should resemble the product named by the employer as closely as responsible original content allows.

Turn Assessio test format guidance into a repeatable routine

Start each session with one written objective connected to this topic. A useful objective is specific enough to review afterwards: understand the named module, improve one matrix-rule family, stabilise decisions under time pressure or answer personality items from one consistent work context. Finish by recording what changed and the next repair action. This makes preparation cumulative instead of turning every session into another unstructured attempt.

Keep evidence and interpretation separate. For cognitive practice, evidence includes the feature you noticed, the rule you tested, the verification you performed and the time you used. For personality preparation, evidence comes from recurring behaviour across real work, study or volunteering situations. Interpretation comes later. This separation reduces impulsive conclusions and helps you discuss your approach calmly if a recruiter asks about the assessment experience.

Use short sessions for method learning and a smaller number of sustained sessions for realistic rehearsal. When an error appears, classify it before continuing: observation, rule selection, verification, timing, instruction reading or concentration. Write one repair rule in plain language and test it in the next guided activity. If the same error no longer appears, move on; if it remains, reduce pressure and relearn the method.

Preparation should also include a stopping rule. Once you understand the format, can apply the appropriate method and have completed one stable rehearsal, more volume can create fatigue without adding readiness. Protect sleep, read the invitation again and reserve enough attention for the actual assessment. Heycademy supports this process, but the employer controls the live configuration and interprets results in the wider selection context.

Final candidate quality check for Assessio test format

Before considering preparation complete, run an information check, a method check and an environment check. You should be able to name the module and version, explain the correct response logic and confirm the deadline, device and testing conditions. This prevents avoidable uncertainty without encouraging you to predict an employer outcome.

Review how you used guided practice. A useful session leaves you able to name a reasoning repair rule or a stable MAP reference point. It should not leave you memorising wording. If the method still feels unclear, return to Learning Mode rather than taking another full test.

Finally, decide when to stop. Once the format is clear and one sustained rehearsal is complete, protect sleep and concentration. Use the remaining time to review the invitation and prepare genuine interview examples.

How Heycademy supports Assessio preparation

Heycademy separates MAP and Matrigma preparation so candidates use the correct method. Learning Mode explains matrix rules and personality context. Timed practice supports Matrigma pace, while guided personality preparation focuses on authentic responding rather than a fake diagnostic profile.

Review history and progress tracking help identify whether the main gap is observation, rule selection, verification, timing or self-report confidence. Premium preparation can combine cognitive and personality insights, while Starter and Pro focus on format education, reasoning practice and explanations.

Preparation checklist

Identify MAP 3, MAP Essence, Adaptive Matrigma or Classic Matrigma.
Learn the response logic for that module.
Practise untimed method before adding timing where relevant.
Complete a sustained format-specific rehearsal.
Check device, browser, internet and employer instructions.

Complete the checklist once, then return only to the unresolved gap. Focused repair is more useful than repeating unrelated modules.

How many items are in MAP 3?

Current Assessio documentation describes 200 items across five traits and 25 facets.

How long does MAP take?

MAP 3 is described as approximately 20-40 minutes; MAP Essence is approximately 15 minutes.

How long is Adaptive Matrigma?

It runs for up to 12 minutes with a time limit on each item.

Is Matrigma verbal?

No. Adaptive Matrigma uses non-verbal matrix problems, although instructions are presented in a selected language.

Is every Matrigma test adaptive?

No. Classic and Adaptive Matrigma are distinct versions, so candidates should check the invitation.

Can employers combine MAP and Matrigma?

Yes. A recruitment project can combine personality and cognitive information.
