Quick answer: what is a People Test Logic practice test

A People Test Logic practice test is independent scored reasoning preparation for PTL, an intelligence and skill-set assessment from People Test Systems under Assessio branding. Useful preparation develops methods across verbal, analytical, numerical and figure-based tasks without copying protected questions.

Heycademy separates Learning Mode, focused domain practice, timed rehearsal and review history. It does not claim official item equivalence, reproduce the nine-parameter report or estimate an intelligence score.

People Test Logic, PTL, People Test Systems and Assessio

People Test Logic is commonly shortened to PTL. Current official pages display Assessio and the wording Formerly People Test Systems, so candidates may encounter both organisation names.

PTL is distinct from People Test Person, People Test Basic and other tools on the same provider site. Verify the product name before preparing.

What PTL measures and why employers use it

The provider describes an expanded intelligence test that calculates an overall intelligence score and provides a detailed profile across nine intelligence and skill parameters. Public material also covers problem-solving ability, strategy, learning, speed, correctness and the ability to handle complex work.

Employers may use PTL in recruitment, onboarding, leadership or development. They can interpret the evidence against a role and combine it with interviews, experience and other selection information.

Current PTL format and the variation boundary

The official candidate page says PTL is timed and includes verbal, analytical, numerical and figure-based tasks. It advises candidates to use a computer, have pen and paper, avoid calculators and dictionaries, and complete the test without interruption.

No universal current duration appears on the public candidate page. An official 2021 item-pool article describes 80 randomly selected items, but the live invitation is the authority for the current assignment.

Verbal, analytical, numerical and figure reasoning

Verbal preparation covers precise meaning, relationships and evidence-based inference. Analytical preparation covers conditions, ordering, grouping and deduction. Numerical preparation covers arithmetic, ratios, percentages and data. Figure preparation covers sequences, matrices, rotation, count and feature rules.

These are public task families, not a claim that the protected test has four equal sections. A mixed assessment can sample or combine skills in different ways.

Original PTL-style practice preview

Try this original numerical brief: a team completes 72 checks in six equal batches. Each batch contains 12 checks. Verify by multiplying 12 by six.

Try this analytical brief: L precedes M; N follows M. The required order is L-M-N. Try this figure brief without official graphics: an arrow rotates 90 degrees clockwise while shading alternates; track both rules separately.

How Heycademy PTL preparation works

Learning Mode uses original activities and immediate explanations. Focused practice isolates verbal, analytical, numerical or figure reasoning. Timed rehearsal tests mixed execution only after methods are stable. Review history separates accuracy, pace, confidence and error causes.

Speed Booster can strengthen compact calculations and rule recognition, but it does not replace complete multi-step reasoning. Heycademy analytics remain independent practice evidence, not PTL results.

A seven-day PTL preparation roadmap

Day one verifies scope and establishes a baseline. Days two through four target repeated weaknesses. Day five adds a short timed mixed set. Day six reviews unresolved causes and completes technical setup. Day seven protects energy and uses only light transfer checks.

With fourteen days, space the same sequence, add a second baseline and mixed rehearsal, and preserve rest between demanding sessions.

Common People Test Logic preparation mistakes

Common mistakes include assuming one published duration, treating public task families as guaranteed equal sections, using a calculator when it is not allowed, chasing an online IQ cutoff, repeating familiar items and practising speed before method.

Correct them with invitation verification, domain-specific review, no-aid practice, unfamiliar transfer and gradual pacing.

PTL compared with related cognitive assessments

PTL and SHL Verify G+ overlap in numerical, deductive and pattern reasoning. PTL public candidate material also explicitly includes verbal tasks, while SHL G+ publicly names numerical, deductive and inductive abilities.

Matrigma focuses much more narrowly on non-verbal matrix reasoning. People Test Basic is a different provider product combining personality and basic skills. The invitation decides which comparison is useful.

Domain-by-domain PTL method and review strategy

Verbal reasoning rewards precision. Before comparing options, identify whether the task asks for a synonym, relationship, classification, contradiction or conclusion. Replace a vague impression with a short definition or evidence statement. When two options seem close, test whether each preserves the exact meaning and logical strength of the source.

Build verbal range through short contextual reading rather than isolated memorisation alone. Record unfamiliar words with a plain definition, one original sentence, a near-synonym and a contrast. For inference tasks, use three labels: must follow, could follow and is contradicted. That distinction prevents plausible background knowledge from entering a closed information problem.

Analytical reasoning becomes easier when conditions leave the paragraph. Translate order into a line, membership into a grid, quantities into variables and conditional rules into short arrows. Mark fixed facts before exploring possibilities. When testing an option, stop as soon as one condition fails, then move to the next option rather than solving every possible arrangement.

Review analytical errors by representation. If the rule was copied incorrectly, repair notation. If the diagram was correct but an inference failed, practise that deduction type. If the solution was correct but slow, look for a stronger fixed condition or an option-testing shortcut. These are different problems and should not receive the same generic practice.

Numerical reasoning needs clean setup before speed. Write the unit, identify the base quantity, estimate the direction and size of change, and then calculate. For ratios, preserve the relationship before scaling. For percentages, identify whether the denominator is the original value, total, subgroup or comparison point. A correct operation on the wrong base remains wrong.

Data interpretation adds selection pressure: not every number in a table or chart matters. Restate the requested comparison, locate the relevant series and period, check the scale and calculate only what is needed. Use estimation to reject impossible options, then use exact arithmetic when the remaining choices require it. Reverse-check the chosen answer in the original context.

Figure reasoning benefits from a feature inventory. Check count, position, direction, movement, shading, size, symmetry, overlap and alternation separately. Prefer the simplest rule that explains every visible transition. In a matrix, verify a proposed row rule down the columns; in a sequence, apply the rule to more than one step; in classification, define the shared property before naming the exception.

A mixed PTL rehearsal should test transitions as well as questions. At each change of task family, reset the method: meaning and inference for verbal, conditions and representation for analytical, units and estimates for numerical, and feature tracking for figures. Re-read any new instruction instead of carrying the previous response rule forward.

Use the review history to decide when to stop. A domain is ready when the method works on unfamiliar material, errors are occasional rather than repeated, and modest time pressure does not destroy verification. The goal is not to exhaust every possible question type. It is to build a small set of reliable reasoning controls that survive variation.

Calibrate confidence against evidence. High confidence with weak accuracy signals unchecked assumptions; strong accuracy with very slow responses signals a method that still needs compression; low confidence with sound explanations may simply require more varied transfer. Review these patterns by domain rather than assigning a general readiness label. The next activity should answer one specific question about method, transfer, pace or setup, so every session has a clear stopping condition and does not become indiscriminate repetition.

Candidate workflow and preparation controls

Start People Test Logic practice test preparation with an invitation map. Record the exact assessment name, language, deadline, test location, device instruction, support contact and any stated rules about materials. Keep timing, item count and benchmark marked unconfirmed unless the invitation or current provider page states them.

Build a baseline across the four public task families: verbal, analytical, numerical and figure-based reasoning. Use fresh original activities, record accuracy and elapsed time separately, and tag each error by cause. A mixed total alone cannot show whether the next repair is vocabulary, data extraction, algebra, deduction, spatial pattern recognition, attention or pace.

Use a repeatable five-step method on every scored activity: restate the required output, extract the controlling evidence, choose a method, eliminate unsupported options and verify the result. The details change by domain, but the discipline transfers across the assessment.

For verbal tasks, separate the meaning of a word or statement from associations that merely sound related. For numerical work, write units before calculating and estimate the result before selecting an option. For analytical problems, translate conditions into a compact rule set. For figure patterns, track one feature at a time: position, count, direction, shading, size or alternation.

Review correct answers as well as errors. A correct guess is weak evidence, while a correct response supported by a clear method is reusable. Mark lucky guesses, slow correct answers and unresolved eliminations so they do not disappear inside the accuracy figure.

Add time pressure only after the method survives unfamiliar untimed work. First reduce repeated error causes, then use short timed sets, and only then rehearse a mixed sequence. The official candidate page says PTL is timed, but it does not publish one universal duration, so the invitation remains the pacing authority.

Create pace checkpoints from the live instructions rather than a generic online timer. If the interface shows time and remaining work, compare them at a few planned points. Do not check after every item, and do not let one difficult question consume the opportunity to answer several accessible ones.

Practise without a calculator or dictionary when preparing for the provider’s published candidate conditions. People Test Systems advises candidates to have pen and paper, use a computer, and avoid other aids such as calculators and dictionaries. If the live instructions differ, follow them.

Keep preparation independent. Never copy official items, screenshots or report graphics, and never upload an invitation or candidate report to an unofficial service. Original competency-aligned practice can improve familiarity and method control without claiming to reproduce the protected assessment.

Finish with a transfer check: solve a new item from each confirmed family, explain the method without seeing the earlier example and identify the condition that would change the answer. Stable transfer matters more than memorising a familiar set.

Allocate the People Test Logic practice test plan by evidence. Give the most time to a confirmed domain with a repeated, repairable weakness; maintain stronger domains with brief transfer checks. Do not split time equally merely because four public task families exist.

With fourteen days, use two baseline sessions, four focused repair sessions, two mixed rehearsals and two light review/setup sessions with rest between them. With seven days, compress to one baseline, three focused sessions, one mixed rehearsal, one final review and one calm test-day setup.

Use Learning Mode for method explanation and distractor analysis. A timed mode should test execution only after the reasoning routine is stable. Speed Booster can train short recognition or calculation components, but it should not replace full problems that require multi-step evidence and verification.

Track domain, item family, correctness, response time, confidence, error cause and repair. Compare like with like. A faster vocabulary response and a slower multi-rule analytical response should not be merged into a simplistic speed score.

When an answer is wrong, ask whether the problem came from reading, knowledge, representation, rule selection, calculation, inference, visual tracking, attention or time pressure. Repair the earliest failed step, then test the repair on new material.

On test day, read all instructions, use the authorised computer and materials, and protect a quiet uninterrupted session. Start steadily rather than sprinting. If a technical problem affects completion, note the time and stage without copying secure content, then contact the official support route.

No preparation service can guarantee an intelligence score, percentile, interview or job. Employers can use different comparison groups, job requirements and wider evidence. The responsible goal is the strongest accurate performance you can produce under the assigned conditions.

Keep the final plan proportionate: verify uncertain rules early, practise confirmed skills deeply, and leave enough recovery time for the methods to transfer under real assessment conditions.
