Quick answer: what is a TMA practice test?

A TMA practice test is independent preparation for the specific TMA components named in your invitation. TMA is not one fixed examination. The process can include the Talent Assessment, which maps 22 drives and 44 talents, and separate cognitive capability assessments selected for a role.

Heycademy therefore begins with component identification. Scored practice can cover confirmed spatial, linguistic, numerical, calculation or technical work. Talent preparation focuses on format familiarity, honest reflection and examples for discussion, not a fabricated correct profile.

Who receives a TMA assessment and when?

Candidates may encounter TMA during recruitment or selection, while employees and leaders may encounter it during development, coaching, mobility or team work. The purpose affects which tools are assigned and how reports are used. A selection process may combine the Talent Assessment, capability assessments and competency-focused interview questions.

The assessment stage is a clue, not a complete specification. An early recruitment invitation may support screening, while a later process may inform an interview or development conversation. Read the employer message for what follows and prepare real examples when feedback or competency discussion is likely.

Identify the TMA components in your invitation

Copy the provider name, assessment title, portal labels, section names, deadline, estimated duration and contact details. Look specifically for Talent Assessment, spatial perception, logical or linguistic perception, numerical perception, calculating ability or technical perception. Record only what is visible.

Create three columns: confirmed, unclear and not assigned. Confirmed components become practice priorities. Unclear labels become questions for the recruiter or assessment contact. Items not assigned stay outside the plan even if they appear in broad online descriptions.

TMA assessment format and invitation-led timing

The Talent Assessment uses statements and behavioural examples that candidates choose between based on what resonates. Cognitive capability assessments instead use scored tasks aligned with a named ability. Moving between these modes changes what good preparation looks like.

Total timing, navigation, breaks, review options and technical rules depend on the assigned configuration. Do not transfer a question count or time limit from a different language, role, employer or historical version. Use the live portal and invitation for operational decisions.

Talent Assessment: drives, talents and honest preparation

TMA states that the Talent Assessment measures 22 drives and 44 talents and provides insight into competency development potential. Drives reflect motivation, while talents describe how those drives may appear positively in behaviour. Reports may also consider reinforcing and neutralising patterns.

There is no responsible answer key for this content. Prepare by reflecting on typical workplace behaviour across several situations, reading contrasts precisely and choosing authentically. Think of examples that show when a tendency helped and when you deliberately adjusted it.

TMA cognitive capability areas and practice mapping

TMA’s official capability pages list spatial perception, logical or linguistic perception, numerical perception, calculating ability and technical perception. Spatial work focuses on patterns in figures; linguistic work on reasoning with language; numerical work on number patterns; calculation on arithmetic accuracy and speed; technical work on applied technical problems.

Map each confirmed label to a focused Heycademy bank. Use rule testing for spatial and numerical patterns, evidence control for linguistic reasoning, translation and verification for calculation, and principle-based analysis for technical tasks. Practise families separately before any mixed rehearsal.

Scoring, reports and the no-universal-cutoff rule

Talent results are profiles rather than school-style scores. They may describe drives, talents, development possibilities, competency potential and how tendencies interact. Cognitive components can be scored, but the report scale, comparison group and employer decision rule depend on the workflow.

Do not invent a universal TMA pass mark. Raw scores, percentages, percentiles and role matches are different concepts. Heycademy accuracy and pace are private preparation analytics and are never official TMA scores or employer thresholds.

How Heycademy TMA preparation works

Heycademy starts with the invitation and lets candidates practise relevant cognitive families using original activities. Learning Mode explains the rule or principle, focused practice repairs one weakness, timed drills test pace after accuracy stabilises, and review history records the evidence behind improvement.

Talent familiarisation is handled independently. It explains reflective response habits and helps candidates prepare genuine competency examples without scoring personality choices. The Heyxera workspace can keep the component list, study plan, error causes and interview notes together.

A useful session ends with a specific repair: a clearer rule test, a stronger evidence check, a corrected calculation setup or a more representative example. Repeating a familiar set until it looks perfect provides weaker evidence than applying the method to new material.

A four-stage TMA preparation roadmap

Stage one is invitation analysis and a short diagnostic in confirmed cognitive areas. Stage two repairs one method at a time in Learning Mode. Stage three adds talent reflection and competency examples. Stage four uses short timed sets, one reviewed rehearsal and a separate technical check.

If you have two weeks, space several repair cycles and revisit the hardest confirmed area. With three days, prioritise scope, one or two important weaknesses, talent reflection and test-day setup. The final day should be light and should not introduce new unconfirmed content.

Common TMA preparation mistakes

The largest mistakes are treating TMA as one fixed test, confusing talent content with scored knowledge, assuming every cognitive area appears, merging numerical patterns with arithmetic, adding speed before method control and copying another candidate’s timing. Each error begins by ignoring the invitation.

Other mistakes include gaming personality responses, seeking recalled secure questions, using practice accuracy as an official prediction, skipping technical checks and arriving without examples for a feedback discussion. Replace each with a visible control in your plan.

Choose Quick Test, section practice or a full simulation

Use the Quick Test for a brief diagnostic across the confirmed scored families. Use section practice when one method needs repair. Use a full simulation only when its structure reasonably matches the invitation, and label it clearly as Heycademy preparation rather than an official replica.

Talent familiarisation stays separate from scored simulations. Starter can support a focused quick route, Pro can add deeper section work and review history, and Premium can add broad access, separate talent guidance and AI-supported interview or workspace tools. Pricing appears after the preparation value and boundaries are clear.

Turn the invitation into a preparation specification

Write a one-page specification before studying. Include the exact product wording, employer, role, deadline, delivery channel and every confirmed component. Add the estimated duration beside the relevant component instead of treating one total as proof of section structure. Record what the source does not say: calculator policy, review access, break rules, result timing and retake policy may all remain unknown until the employer or portal clarifies them.

Use confidence labels beside each fact. Mark direct invitation language as confirmed, official provider background as verified context and your own preparation choice as an inference. This prevents a reasonable study decision from turning into a false claim about the live assessment. Revisit the sheet whenever the portal reveals new instructions.

Build a separate method card for every cognitive family

A spatial method card can list transformations such as rotation, reflection, quantity, movement, shading and alternation. A linguistic card can require a precise relationship, a statement of available evidence and rejection of outside knowledge. A numerical-pattern card can test differences, ratios, alternating operations and interleaved sequences. A calculation card can enforce setup, estimation, arithmetic and verification. A technical card can identify the system, principle, direction, constraints and requested outcome.

Keep each card brief enough to use during review. After an error, point to the missed step rather than writing that you need more practice. If no step explains the mistake, update the method card. The card should evolve from evidence while remaining simple enough to reconstruct under time pressure.

Measure progress without confusing it with official scoring

Track accuracy, median response time and error causes inside each confirmed cognitive family. Compare like with like: a calculation session should not be averaged with talent familiarisation, and a simple untimed diagnostic should not be treated as equivalent to a denser timed rehearsal. Use trends to choose the next practice action, not to forecast an employer decision.

Heycademy results are learning analytics. They do not use TMA norms, employer role profiles or official matching rules. A higher practice percentage can show that your current original set was handled more reliably, but it cannot establish a TMA percentile, competency potential score or hiring threshold. Keep that boundary visible in notes and reports.

Prepare talent reflection with real evidence

Select several recent situations from work, study, volunteering or projects. For each, note what motivated you, how you approached people and tasks, what conditions increased or reduced your energy, and how you adapted. Look for repeated patterns without forcing every example to support the same story. Typical behaviour is more useful than a single exceptional day.

Then prepare balanced competency evidence. Describe the situation, the goal, your action, the result and what you learned. Include an example where a natural preference helped and another where you adjusted it to meet the context. This makes a later discussion specific and avoids treating talent language as praise, criticism or destiny.

Control pacing without inventing a universal target

Use the live section clock, item count and instructions when available. Before then, practise a decision cycle rather than a fixed seconds-per-item promise: read the instruction, identify the task family, apply the method, verify the controlling evidence and commit. If one activity consumes disproportionate time, record whether the cause was concept knowledge, indecision, calculation, visual search or repeated rereading.

Short timed sets are most useful after accuracy is stable. They reveal whether the method survives pressure and whether difficult items disrupt later work. Review both completed and skipped activities, then adjust the routine. Do not assume negative marking, back navigation or recommended guessing unless the live rules state it.

Design the final rehearsal around the real battery

A full rehearsal should resemble the confirmed sequence closely enough to test transitions and concentration. If the invitation names two capability areas, use those two rather than adding all five for variety. If talent content is included, place an unscored familiarisation segment separately and practise the mental switch from correct-answer reasoning to authentic reflection.

Run the rehearsal early enough to review it. Record the first point where method quality declined, the component that created the most fatigue and any technical friction. Repair one or two meaningful issues instead of repeating the whole simulation immediately. A second full run is valuable only when it tests a changed plan.

Use a practical test-day control list

Before the deadline, confirm the correct portal link, account access, time zone, start window, device, browser, connection, charger, quiet space, identification and permitted materials. Close unnecessary applications and arrange the environment according to the official instructions. Save the support contact somewhere accessible without relying on an already locked assessment screen.

At the start, read the rules that are actually shown. Notice whether a section is timed separately, whether navigation is linear, how responses are submitted and what happens when time expires. When the response mode changes, reset your approach deliberately. After completion, follow the employer’s process and prepare report questions or competency examples rather than reconstructing secure content.

Preparation record: Keep a short decision log for the entire TMA preparation cycle. Start each entry with the confirmed component and the source that confirmed it. Add the practice objective, the method used, the result evidence, the main error cause and the next repair. For talent reflection, replace accuracy with the workplace situations considered and the examples you want to discuss. This creates continuity between sessions and makes it harder to drift into unrelated practice.

Review the log every two or three sessions. If the same error label keeps returning, reduce speed or complexity and rebuild the underlying step. If results are stable across new material, add modest time pressure or a transition between confirmed sections. If the invitation changes, update the preparation specification before changing the practice route. The log should explain why each session exists.

Keep employer-facing conclusions cautious. A practice trend can support confidence that a method is becoming more reliable, but it cannot establish how the employer will weight the assessment. A talent example can prepare you for discussion, but it cannot prove a universal role match. End the plan with controllable outcomes: clear instructions, relevant methods, authentic reflection, a tested setup and enough rest to apply them.

When uncertainty remains, write one precise question for the assessment contact and continue only with confirmed work. Clear scope is itself a preparation advantage because it protects attention, reduces wasted effort and keeps the final rehearsal aligned with the assignment.

TMA practice test FAQs

What is the TMA Assessment?

TMA is a configurable assessment family. It can include the Talent Assessment, which explores 22 drives and 44 talents, and separate cognitive capability assessments selected for the role.

What questions are on the TMA assessment?

The assigned battery may contain talent-focused statements and behavioural examples or scored spatial, linguistic, numerical, calculation and technical tasks. Check your invitation.

How long is the TMA test?

There is no single duration for every TMA battery. Use the estimate for the specific components in your invitation or portal.

Can I practise for the TMA assessment?

Yes. You can practise original cognitive activities, methods and pacing. For talent content, prepare through format familiarity and honest reflection rather than an answer key.

Is there a passing score for TMA?

There is no universal public pass mark for every TMA use. Employers decide how profiles, capability results, interviews and other evidence support a role decision.

Can employers customise the assessment?

Employers can select relevant TMA tools and capability areas for their process, so another candidate may receive a different battery.

Are Heycademy questions official TMA questions?

No. Heycademy uses original activities and transferable methods and does not publish, reproduce or claim access to secure TMA content.

How should I prepare when my invitation does not name the sections?

Check the exact assessment title, portal labels and estimated duration, then ask the recruiter or assessment contact which Talent Assessment or capability components are included.
