It has never been more easier to make your own website, just like i made this website. I know the struggle to figure out what all it takes to make your own website. You have several options to create your website. But the question is “How to make a webiste”, right ? I have answered this question in this article in just 4 steps. You are all set to create your website !
1. Choose your website name
You need to decide a few a things before starting to build a website.
- Choose what name you want to give to your website. Remember you can call this name “Domain” as well in technical terms.
- Go and search if the name you want to give to your website (domain) is it actually avaiable or not.
- Click on search and then choose the name which you like the most. Usually the “.com” websites are most expensive but if you have a unique name of the website/domain then you might get that in cheap as well.
- Done ! You have a name now congrats ! Let’s go to the next step.
2. Choose the hosting company
Now that you have choosen your website name the next step is to find a home for your website. You want your website to be accessbile all the time and all over the world, hence someone needs to keep it avaialbale for you. And that’s the hosting company, hence you need to choose this company wisely and dont get into tricks of buying something extremely cheap on the cost of your website performance.
To choose a hosting company you should remember to check the following :
- Does the hosting company is old enough ? At leastt 5 to 10 years old.
- How is the market reputaion of the hosting company ? You dont want to host your website from a company which have bad reviews.
- Does it have a good customer care support 24/7 prefreably ?
You have many options to choose from but most commonly used hosting companies are which i recommend as well are :
- Bluehost : Bluehost is one of the most reliable hosting company with great customer care support. Their customer care support can really solve your website problems just by quick chats, which is amazing. Plus they are good with security as well as the interface is much easier than some other hosting companies. In just 2.9 $/month. Click here to check it out–> Bluehost.
- Hostgator: Hostgator is quite similar to Bluehost but it has some pros and cons. The customer care support was not helpful, once you decide to host your website with Hostgator they are less bothered about the subsequent issues you might have. Also the interface from hostgaor and cPanel is tough to naivigate for someone who is not so technical.
Honestly you can choose either of those, as they both have good repuation in the market but if you are making your website by your own I would recommend to choose Bluehost.
3. Choose a plan to host your website
You need to buy two things and the only thing to have your own website :
- Domain name/ website name
- Hosting of the website
Good news is you can buy both in one package from hosting companies. Easiest way is to go this way, as it saves money and hassle.
4. Setup your website
So if you have bought the domain and the hosting of the website, you have a website already, though it would be blank website but you own that space. There are some initial steps you need to do which are basically like logging into website etc.
- You need to access “WordPress” to design your website. Hence once you login to your hosting company’s portal it has an option like “Login to wordpress”. Once you click that it takes you to the wordpress website.
- From this wordpress dashboard on the right you can see many options like “Pages”,”Posts”,”Appearence”,”Plugin”.
- Just like a phone or a mobile your website can have “Themes” as well. Click on “Appearane” then “Themes”, then click add new. You will get some options you can choose any free Theme, like “Sinatra”.
- Now we have a theme and look of the website, the only thing needed now is to have your own website details. For that you need to customize the website look. Click on the left top corner on your website name–>Visit Site.
- Now you will see your website, click on “Customise” on the left top corner.
- Edit the details of the website, like name and the title. You can create a menu and much more there. The options are very user friendly.
CONGRATULATIONS ! You have your website now, well done !
